Poverty in US
Poverty is a serious problem in the US. According to the US Census, most Americans (58.5%) spend at least one year below the poverty line at some point between ages 25 to 75. Another fact that supports my statement is that there are approximately 116,011,000 households in the United States and 16.3% of all households had annual incomes which fell below the poverty line and the bottom 20% earned less than $19,178. The poverty rate in the US is also gradually increasing. The poverty rate in USA was about 12.5% in 2007, not statistically different from 2006. Some 37.3 million people were poor in 2007, up from about 36.5 million in 2006.

Detecting Bias
1. The authors could have made their arguments more objective and less biased by restraining from using the "loaded words" such as, gravest, cripple, negative, etc. Another factor is to use examples that oppose his argument in his writing to make it seem less biased.
2. I find the argument which states "Overpopulation does not hreaten humanity's future" more convincing. Mainly it is because of my personal thoughts but also, the writer gave lots of evidence and examples to support his bias in the piece of writing.
